Announcement
| We at Rhythm, would like to honor and sadly announce the passing of EX WOII Thomas Etsey Tekpo, formerly of Recce Regiment Burma Camp, whose sudden death occurred on April 15, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, during a short illness. |
Mr. Tekpo was not only our beloved and amazing father and father in-law, but a key founding member of Rhythm International Foundation Ghana. He leaves behind many friends and family who grieve him especially his wife Janet and all of their children and grandchildren, including his son Eliott Tekpor (Rhythm International of Ghana Member) and RIFE Board Member Eric Paul.
Thomas was affectionally known by serveral names, his family called him Efo or Professor and his military friends called him Tango Tango. Efo was the epitomy of all things honorable in a man, and he loved others in the way he lived; honestly, and wholeheartedly. He was a disciplined man who lived what he believed and who helped others without even having to think about it. He was truly overjoyed by the forming of Rhythm International Foundation and believed in what we were doing so much he offered the office on the family compound to be utilized as Rhythm International Foundation’s Headquarters in Ghana. Although we still have not renovated the structure this remains a key objective as we seek to further develop Rhythm International in Ghana and we will do so in his honor. We thank you Efo for all your support and love, may you rest in peace and continue to delight in all the good work done by the volunteers of Rhythm International Foundation of Ghana and Edmonton.

The Ayanful Library Project
In the summer of 2011 representatives of the RIFE went to the engaging country of Ghana on the West Coast of Africa. While there to volunteer for the Foundation’s Hospital Revitalization project in Dixcove, the RIFE’s Public Relations Director, Eric Paul, became close with the Fante population of a small village in the central region. Much reflection and reasoning with the Council of Chiefs, as well as the general population in Gomoa Ayanful, revealed an opportunity to critically change the life of the youth in the area. He learned that the village, having just constructed their first school, would greatly benefit from the creation of a library.
Having realized that the project would expand the Rhythm International Foundation of Edmonton’s positive impact on the world, the PR Director, brought a proposal for this project to the RIFE Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors unanimously voted to support this new initiative in January of 2012 as it meets the Third Objective set out by the Foundation: To assist with the creation of libraries in Schools and Communities where reading materials have otherwise been limited
The purpose of the Ayanful Library Project is to develop and construct a small library in the village of Gomoa Ayanful for the benefit, service and improvement of the community. To further this goal, a Board of Directors approved sub-committee, the Ayanful Library Project Organization Committee [ALPOC], has been designated to undertake the logistics required to meet the project’s objectives which include providing resource materials for the Library which is to be constructed.
The RIFE and ALPOC is now fundraising for the construction and implementation of the Ayanful Library Project.
“Little in the world has a greater impact on the well being and health of a person than the effect of knowledge gained and applied, let us enable this community to build themselves up!" [Eric Paul, Ayanful Library Project: Development Project Proposal, 2012]
Trip To Ghana
